Tuesday 21st June, 8th Week, 8pm
Editor of the Mail on Sunday for the last 13 years, Peter Wright has worked for the Associated Newspapers juggernaut for the last 30, previously as Deputy Editor of the Daily Mail and editor of its Femail section.
Under Wright's leadership, the paper has broken a string of scoops, including revealing Cherie Blair's links to conman Peter Foster, kicking up a storm over Russell Brand's treatment of Andrew Sachs, campaigning about ...conditions in Guantanamo Bay and exposing Lord Triesman last summer. Most recently it broke 'Huhnegate' - the allegations that Chris Huhne asked his wife to take his speeding points.
Widely tipped to succeed Paul Dacre as editor of the Daily Mail and overall editor-in-chief of Associated Newspapers, Wright is one of the most influential people on Fleet Street.
He will talk to Oxford Media Society about how the best stories come into being, how editors edit and why the Mail brand has proved so commercially successful.
The event will be followed by questions and accompanied by refreshments.
£2 entry; free for MediaSoc members.
