David Allen Green, solicitor and legal correspondent

7th November, 8pm
Lecture Room B, Queen's College

David Allen Green is a solicitor, blogger and legal correspondent for the New Statesmen. He will be discussing media law as it attempts to respond to the rapidly changing media followed by a Q&A.

David rose to prominence when leading the defence for the Twitter Joke Trial (supported by comedians Stephen Fry and Al Murray), in which Paul Chambers was tried for a 'threatening' tweet made in response to the closure of Robin Hood Airport.

Over the summer, David also produced a hugely influential source-based account of legal misconceptions over the extradition of Julian Assange for the New Statesman.

David's popular Jack of Kent blog saw him nominated for the Orwell blogging prize in 2010.

His legal credentials include being awarded the the Sir Thomas More and Hardwicke Scholarships by Lincoln's Inn, being a lawyer at Baker & McKenzie, Herbert Smith, and the Treasury Solicitor, and he is now (and since 2009) head of the media practice at Preiskel & Co.
