MEDIA SOC NEEDS YOU! 

Do you want to join our committee and help us to invite interesting speakers from all areas of the media? 

We are recruiting for Hilary Term 2014 for the roles of Treasurer, Secretary, Social Media Manager and a Resident Blogger to help transform our website into a blog filled with lively debate about current affairs in the media.

MARK DAMAZER - Former Controller of Radio 4

Now Master of St.Peter's College, Oxford, Damazer used to be controller of both BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 7.
He has also been editor of Newsnight and Nine O'Clock News.
In 1994 he became Editor of Television News Programmes, then Head of Current Affairs in 1996.
He became Head of Political Programmes in 1998.
In 2001 he became Deputy Director of BBC News.
In 2004 he became Controller of BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 7.
In 2010 he left the media to become Master of St.Peter's College.
With such a diverse career in media, this will be a really interesting talk for anyone interested in the BBC, radio or television.

ARTS, MEDIA AND MARKETING FAIR 2013 - Oxford University Careers Service

Oxford Town Hall, Thursday 7 November, 14.30-18.00.
The Arts, Media and Marketing Fair is the only event of its kind at Oxford! It’s happening on Thursday 7th November at the Oxford Town Hall from 2.30-6pm. Learn about careers in journalism, publishing, arts, museums, broadcasting, media, advertising, marketing and much more. It’s being supported by a number of student societies such as the Oxford Media Society, the Oxford Society of Young Publishers and AdSoc (the Oxford Advertising Society).
Take the opportunity to come along and learn about roles in these dynamic and growing sectors, alongside getting advice on how to make competitive applications and how to get noticed in the hidden jobs market. All students and alumni are welcome to attend.
CLAIRE POYSER AND KATE LITTLE - Managing Directors of Lime Pictures
November 7th, 7pm

Claire Poyser was Director of Production at ITV for eight years, Production Manager at the BBC for three years and has been Managing Director of Lime Pictures since 2012.

Kate Little was Director of Business Affairs at ITV for five years, Head of In House Business Affairs at the BBC for a year and has been Chief Operating Officer at Lime Pictures since 2012.

Together they produce programmes like Hollyoaks, Geordie Shore and T.O.W.I.E.

They will be discussing their achievements and future plans for Lime Pictures as well as giving some background on their varied media careers.
